Applicable To
990-PF 990-N 990-EZ 990 8868 1120-POL

For organizations following the fiscal tax year, Form(s) 990-N, 990-EZ, 990, and 990-PF are due by the 15th day of the 5th month after the tax period ends. For example, exempt organizations that follow the calendar tax year must file their annual return by May 15, 2023.

On the other hand, if an exempt organization's fiscal tax year ends on January 31, the 15th day of the 5th month would be June 15.

Note: If this day falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or a legal holiday, the filing can be done on the next business day.

If organizations cannot file their Form 990 by the due date, they can use Form 8868 to request an extension of time to file the form. This is applicable for Form 990, 990-EZ, or 990-PF.
