How to find and use recovery code?

If you lose access to your Multi-Factor Authentication, you can regain access to your account using Recovery Codes. This provides an additional way to log in to your account when you enable Multi-Factor Authentication. These codes might be saved as ‘Tax990_<username>_RecoveryCodes.pdf’ in your Downloads folder. 

Step 1: At the time of login, if you don’t have access to your mobile number or authentication app, choose the ‘Try another method’ option and select ‘Use Recovery Codes’.

Step 2: There enter the 9-digit recovery codes and click ‘Verify’. Upon utilizing your recovery code, the Multi-Factor Authentication feature will be deactivated. You will need to enable multi-factor authentication again.
