What is the purpose of Schedule D in Form 990?

Form 990 Schedule D must be filed by the organization along with Form 990 to report information on the donor-advised funds, conservation easements, certain art and museum collections, escrow or custodial accounts or arrangements, endowment funds, and supplemental financial information.

Part I, Organizations Maintaining Donor Advised Funds or Other Similar Funds or Accounts of Schedule D, provides information about the donor-advised fund(s), including financial activity in the fund(s) and specific questions regarding the administration of the fund(s).

However, the organizations that improperly use the donor-advised funds will disallow charitable deductions to the donor, excise taxes to donors, the organization, and managers of donor-advised funds, and/or revocation of the organization's tax exemption status.
